The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by various central universities, state universities, private universities, and deemed universities.


This entrance test is excellent from a student's point of view because earlier students have to write many exams to get admission to different universities. But now there will be just one entrance test for all the universities. And the Syllabus of the CUET exam will be the same as the 11th and 12th syllabus, so it will be easy for the students to prepare for the test.

CUET 2023 Exam Pattern - Overview


The CUET examination consists of 4 sections i.e. Section IA is a 13 Languages test, section IB is a 19 languages test, Section II is a 27 Domain-specific subject test, and Section III is a General Aptitude Test.

CUET 2023 Exam Pattern


  • The Central University Entrance Test (CUET) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). They will conduct the central university entrance test (CUET) in 13 languages that are Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, Bengali, and Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi, and Urdu.

  • The central university entrance test (CUET) will be conducted in online mode. It is an objective type with multiple-choice questions examination. Students who are cleared 12th are eligible to take the CUET exam. You can check the complete Eligibility criteria on NTA's official website.

  • The CUET examination consists of 4 sections i.e. Section IA is a 13 Languages test, section IB is a 19 languages test, Section II is a 27 Domain-specific subject test, and Section III is a General Aptitude test.

  • Section IA - 13 languages from which the student has to choose are English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

  • Section IB consists of a 19 languages test. The 19 languages from which the students have to choose are Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, French, and Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi).

  • Section II is 27 domain-specific - subject tests.

  • Section III is a general aptitude test.

  • From Section IA and Section IB, combined candidates can choose a maximum of 3 languages. Out of these 3 selected languages, 1 language should be in lieu of Domain-specific - subject tests.

  • From section II candidates have to choose a maximum of 6 domain subjects out of the 27 subjects given.

  • For choosing languages (up to 3) from section IA and section IB and a maximum of 6 domain subjects from section II and general aptitude test under section III, the candidate must refer to the requirements of his / her intended university. ( Subjects and intented universities should be chosen at the time of the CUET registration process)

  • Section IA and Section IB are 13 language tests and 19 language tests respectively. These tests consist of 50 questions and to attempt these 50 questions candidates will get 45 minutes.

  • Section II is a domain-specific subject test. In this test, candidates have to choose 6 domain subjects out of the 27 subjects. To attempt these 6 domain subjects candidates will have 45 minutes for each subject. There will be 50 questions in this test.

  • Section III is a general aptitude test. In this test, candidates will have 60 minutes of time to 75 questions.

There are a total of 27 domain subjects as mentioned in the revised CUET 2023 exam pattern. So out of the 27 subjects candidates have to choose a maximum of 6 domain subjects.
