CUET Eligibility Criteria 2022 - Age Limit, Qualification, Reservation Policy

The Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET), earlier known as Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUET), is conducted nationwide from the academic session of 2022 to provide admissions to various undergraduate courses at central universities.

This year, a total of 86 universities are participating in the CUET (UG) Entrance Exam. Out of 86, 43 are central universities, 12 are state universities, 11 are deemed universities, and 19 are private universities

  • The Ministry of Education (MoE) has given the National Testing Agency (NTA) authority to conduct CUET exam from the academic year 2022.

  • NTA will conduct the exam tentatively in the month of July 2022.

  • Appearing for the Common Universities Entrance Test is mandatory from 2022 for admission to central universities across the nation.

Earlier, there was a rumor that students who have completed class 12 with 60% aggregate marks could apply for the entrance test. Also, students who want to drop out after completing one year of UG degree course will be given a certificate for completing one year.

However, the Ministry of Education published the eligibility criteria and other required conditions for the CUET exam on the official notification.

CUET General Eligibility Criteria 2022

Ministry of Education has introduced the CUET exam intending to provide equal opportunities and a common platform for all students across the nation.

Though the admissions process is the same for all the participating universities, the eligibility criteria vary for each program offered by each university.

  • Before proceeding with the CUET application form, students must check the required criteria of the particular course they are willing to take admission at the particular university.

  • Also, students must note that just appearing for the entrance exam or scoring minimum marks in the entrance test does not guarantee admission until and unless they satisfy certain eligibility conditions of the particular university they are willing to take admission to.

  • Admissions are provided based on the existing policies, reservations, qualifications, relaxation, and subject combination of the respective university.

CUET Educational Qualification

To be eligible for the CUET (UG) Exam 2022, students must have completed their class 12 or equivalent exam from a recognized university.

Those who are appearing for class 12 board exams in 2022 can also apply for the entrance exam.

CUET 2022 Exam Age Limit Criteria

There is no age limit to apply for the CUET (UG) Entrance Exam 2022.

However, students must satisfy specific age criteria (if any) of the particular university where they are willing to get admission.

CUET Reservation Policy

In the CUET exam, a certain percentage of seats are reserved for Indian Nationals belonging to the reserved category as per the rules specified by the Government of India.

When it comes to central universities, the reservation is provided as per the existing policies of the respective university.

For students who want the utilize the benefit of reservation under the PwD category, their minimum degree of disability should be 40%. Otherwise, they are not eligible to avail of the benefits.

To claim the benefit of the reservation, students have to upload the required category/caste certificate. Remember, the category certificate must have been issued on or after 01 January 2022 by the latest guidelines of the Government of India.
