Updated: 4 days ago

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has introduced the Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) to provide admissions to various undergraduate courses, diploma courses, research courses, and certification courses to all central universities from 2022.

CUET provides equal opportunities and a common platform to all students across the country, especially those who are from remote and rural areas.

CUET (UG) Exam, which is the second-largest exam in the country and is conducted nationwide, will enable the students to be part of the admission process to all participating universities.

This year, a total of 86 universities are participating in this entrance test, out of which 43 are central universities, 12 are state universities, 11 are deemed universities, and 19 are private universities.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will hold the authority to confine the online registrations, conduct the CUET (UG) Exam, publish the answer key, and declare the results from the academic year 2022.

Those who wish to get admission to central universities must appear for the entrance test, and the merit is prepared based on the student's performance in the entrance test.

CUET exam sets new trends for admissions to all 86 central universities based on the entrance test score.

Earlier, when admissions were based on the student's merit in their board exams, seats were reserved for native state students, and the deserving students lost out on the opportunity.

However, CUET will provide an option for students across the nation who are eligible to get admission to their desired college.

  • Common Universities Entrance Test checks the student’s aptitude and in-depth knowledge of the subject, which will help the evaluator understand whether a particular student can excel in his career in a specific field.

  • Also, it will help to check the interest and caliber of the students.

CUET Admission Process

Admission to all participating universities is solely based on CUET scores, and the National Testing Agency does not hold any authority while preparing the merit list.

  • Students must note that just appearing in the entrance test will not confirm students' admission to the respective university.

  • Admissions are provided for students who will fulfill all the requirements like admission criteria, eligibility criteria, CUET score, rank in the merit list, verification of documents, medical fitness, and other criteria prescribed by the particular university.

  • Each participating university handles the admission process for its respective programs.

  • After the entrance exam results are declared, participating universities will declare the counseling or admission schedule and prepare the merit list based on the CUET (UG) score and the other criteria of the university.
